Help Omer Build a New Life after Manus

0 out of 5 based on 0 customer ratings

Los Angeles, California, United States

Omer was a farmer, growing tomatoes, onions and other vegetables, when violence and persecution forced him to flee his home in Sudan.

Just 24 years old, Omer tried to make his way to a new life in Australia. He was unlawfully detained on Manus Island instead. Despite qualifying as a genuine refugee, Australian kept Omer’s life in limbo for more than six long years.

At the Ads-Up Refugee Network, we want to help Omer make up for lost time.

Dozens of refugees before him have found a commercial truck driving license is a ticket to a secure, COVID-safe, well-paying job, but CDL license costs can be high.

Please chip in to help the Ads-Up Refugee Network cover the costs of Omer’s training program >>

**Donations are processed in USD**

In May 2020 Omer was finally resettled in Nashville Tennessee just as Covid-19 brought the US economy to a shuddering halt. Isolation, job shortages and an overload on all social services have made it tough in the first months. But Omer sees lots of opportunities.

There are so many things he can and will do. He has already started English lessons and is studying online to complete his high school diploma. He wants to continue his studies but knows he must get to work first to ensure self-sufficiency and build savings.

Funds donated will be held in the Ads-Up Refugee Network Charity Account and used to directly pay for training costs. If this page raises more than is required to fund Omer’s training, excess funds will be reallocated to help another refugee cover training costs.
